Stripped of her extreme virality, her multiple parodies and (go on then) her cute video, there is one thing we want to say: Call Me Maybe was, is! the perfect pop hit. The song with which Carly Rae Jepsen made a name for herself in 2012, changed her life, but the Canadian artist didn’t let it change her. After Kiss, the album it was on, Jepsen decided to surround herself with producers such as Dev Hynes (Blood Orange), Ariel Rechtshaid and Rostam Batmanglij (ex-Vampire Weekend) to give shape to her very own Trojan Horse for the world of mainstream pop: EMOTION, a third album of creative exuberance which, through the catchy single I Really Like You, took the listener into exquisite eighties pop atmospheres, overwhelming synthesisers, youthful emotions and Instagram filters. And now Carly, champion of that other massive pop, is preparing her comeback with the self-asserting single Party For One. She is more than enough.
