The damsel and black metal: Some may say “Poor Amalia Bruum, she has been perverted by the beast of blast beat!”. But this is not the story of a damsel in distress. The Myrkur film plot is much more interesting, it is about a young Danish multi-instrumentalist who, after a pop apprenticeship, learnt to love the monster that resided inside her. At the beginning - on her eponymous EP- the transformation reflected an irreconcilable contrast between the celestial and the metal abyss, but in the most recent episodes – the LPs M and Maredidt– everything antithetical has blended into just one face: that of a priestess who perceives in gothic folk and extreme metal the keys to kick up a singularly beautiful storm.
